Christoph
Christoph Hellings joined the Quantum Device Lab in November 2019 as a Postdoc. He obtained his PhD from TU Munich, where he worked on signal processing methods for wireless communication systems as well as on algorithms for nonconvex optimization. At the Quantum Device Lab, his research includes the design and implementation of algorithms for quantum computation and quantum simulation as well as signal processing aspects in superconducting circuits.
Ekaterina
Ekaterina Al-Tavil joined the Quantum Device Lab in November 2019 as a PhD student. Her research focuses on hybrid quantum systems combining semiconductor quantum dots with superconducting circuits. During her Master's she worked in the Quantum coherence lab with Nicolas Roch on Travelling wave parametric amplifiers made from superconducting circuits. Ekaterina obtained her Bachelor degree from the Polytechnical University of Saint Petersburg and her Master of science in Nanophysics from University of Grenoble Alpes.
Manuel
Manuel Hinderling joined the Quantum Device Lab for the Fall Semester 2019 to carry out a semester project about the characterization of a 4K cryostat within the ETH Zurich Master programme (MSc ETH Physics).

ETH Centre Quantum Science and Technology
In the second round of ETH+ the Executive Board decided to financially support the initiative ETH Centre for Quantum Science and Technology. The planned Centre will pool the quantum research activities across the engineering and natural sciences at ETH as well as the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI to strengthen this field at the national level. There are also plans to establish a joint professorship with PSI for experimental quantum technology as well as a professorship for quantum information at the Department of Computer Science.
